An Apology
by Josh Howard

I recently talked about a controversial topic with members of the media. I used poor judgment and I want to apologize to my fans, the Mavericks and the NBA. I am fortunate to be playing basketball in the League. I realize I have a responsibility as a role model for young fans, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Honesty should be a valued trait

I don't care about your cars or dunks.  You spoke honestly and intelligently about a recreational drug that is NOT a performance enhancing drug.  It's also a lot less harmful than legal drugs like alcohol  and tobacco.   You've been chastised for being honest and forthright.  I now have a reason to root hard for you in the future.

Still love ya bro!

Hey man,

You're awesome bro! It takes a big man to step up and post like you did. People are gonna be saying a lot of crap for a while but it'll die down. We all have things in our life that we're not proud of, it can be much tougher for you guys due to the large stage that God has put you on. That also means though that you have the ability to impact others in amazing ways that few can! I'm praying for ya bro. I've been in a similar place in my life (Not in the NBA LOL... even though that'd be pretty dang cool!)

Best Blessings!

Pot Use

Hi, French Mavericks fan here.

You know, when I heard that, I was very disappointed. I know that a lot of players smoke Marijuana but I still think you'd shut up about this even if I have to recognize it's very courageous to admit pot use.
However, I love the Mavericks, I love your game, I've always been a diehard Josh Howard's fan and I'm very surprised that a large amount of people want to trade you ! I believe that when we admit something like this we can have a second shot.
I'm a Mavs fan and I just wanted to tell you that I don't want you to go, we need you !
I side with you.

Respect for the honesty

Josh,
If more people were as honest about their actions as you have been it'd be a much easier world to live in.  There's nothing more frustrating than dealing with a dishonest person.  I'd rather have a loved one smoking a little weed than drinking liquor.

Best of Luck to you,
Mike

We Love You Josh

Happy Birthday Josh!
Keep you head up.  Everyone can make a mistake.  Remember that your body is a wonderful unit that I don't want you to hurt.  Also, remember that there are a lot of jealous people out there.  Be careful who you talk to about things.  If you cannot say it to the media, don't say it at all!
Remember that God will guide  you through this difficult situation. Just trust in him and he will not let you down.  You are still my favorite player!

Statement

Josh,
Not sure if this actually gets to you or not. My name is Jeff Dowell (you may or may not remember me) but we grew up together in Winston, played some ball at Parkland together and I have followed your career and always been a fan of what you have been able to accomplish.
I just wanted to say hello and let you know that the people from back home are behind you. Although it was probably a bit of poor judgement to speak on the marijuana issue publicly, I thought you did so with class and dignity. You were honest which is something sorely lacking in the NBA these days.
Keep doing what your doing. You are an inspiration to thousands of young kids and will continue to do so.
Jeff Dowell

You're a favorite player of mine

Josh,
It seems that you have been having a tough time and I just want you to know that I am behind you all of the way. There have been some negative things said about you in the media....whatevz...you are an extraordinary player and if it were up to me, you would finish your career as a Maverick. I hope you guys can stick it to the Hornets on Tuesday...best of luck!
