Seeking a chance to return to the NBA following his second ACL surgery, Josh Howard will begin his journey back in the NBA Developmental League.

Josh signed with the San Antonio Spurs on October 25 and was assigned to their D-League affiliate, the Toros located in Austin, Texas where he will at least begin the 2013-2014 NBA season.

The Spurs will monitor Josh’s physical condition as he returns to the court after suffering a torn ACL last December while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told SpursNation that he has a lot of respect for Josh’s hard work and desire┬áto keep playing.

“He’s just trying to get in shape and see what his body feels like and see if he can play at a level that would be advantageous for him for another team he could go to,” Popovich said. “I think he’s making a great effort to establish that and not worry about how things look, but just trying to get back in the game.”
